Zephyr opened one eye slowly and looked around, dawn was breaking over the horizion. The border collie flicked his ears slowly and closed his eyes again, he wanted to shove all unwanted feelings away. Atlas. The name echoed in his mind and he pinned his ears back, that was the name of the dog who had betrayed him. That dumb whelp had tried to kill him and Zephyr had suffered sleepness nights for who knows how long. He curled himself into a tighter ball and yawned, he didn't want to wake up so he laid still.
The silence did not help anything, it made things worse. The sounds of the battle roared in his ears and his heartrate quickened as he remembered the fight... He felt his flanks burn and his ears tingle and his paws quake. Zephyr lifted his head to remind himself that he was still here and that dog would never hurt him again... unless he joined a darker pack. Zephyr's ears pinned back again and he rested his head on his paws with a snort of discomfort.
The border collie looked out of the cave he was resting in and gave a sadened sigh. Atlas had been such a wonderful apprentice and was learning to lead... Zephyr had never doubted the young doberman and had treated him like a son. He felt his heart leap into his throat and he pushed it back down with a swallow. This had not been what he expected or wanted... He wasn't old, but he was hoping Atlas was going to make another light pack when he had left Zephyr's care. He bared his teeth and glared out at the sun. "Why do you have to rise, dear sun. You are always bright and cheery, even when crying. Even when I have lost one thing closest to me... Why do you torment me so?" Zephyr sighed and rested his head back on the cave floor. None of the others knew that he had recently been attacked, hell, he was so far away from the normal place he slept, they had no idea about Atlas.
Zephyr perked his ears and growled low in his throat, he'd heard somthing. He poked his black and white head out of the den to see a hedgehog stumbling by. Zephyr lowered himself into a playful position and stared at the hedgehog, face to face. The small creature poked Zephyr's nose and the border collie rumbled in joy. Zephyr slapped his paws on the ground and the hedgehog blinked, he grinned.

Dainu trotted on the other side of teh hedgehog, staying in the shadows. Courtney had already beat him there. Her pressed his nose lightly to her cheek and twitched his hear, making the small, fat gold band on his ear flip up then back down. He turned back to Zephyr (can you pick a harder name please? lol) with interested eyes, grey eyes.
Courtney smiled and she too watched Zephyr. (I'm not gonna go through laybor! Or however you spell that. I'm going to skip that when the time comes!)

Zephyr's head shot up and his ears twitched lightly. He tipped his head to one side and gazed at Dainu and Courtney. He sat down and let the hedgehog scurry past, how did they find him? Why were they smiling? How could they be smiling? Zephyr lowered his head and looked away, his ears flicking back and forth. If they asked about Atlas, what would he say?

Dianu shook his thick pelt. The last time he saw this dog was at the fight a while back. Boy he put up a good one for the state he was in. "Greetings, we come from the north shores. I trust you remember Courtney?" She smiled slightly in hello. "We're looking for Atlas..." Dianu knew that Zephyr didn't want to think of the dog, let alone converse him. "I'm planning a fight." he grinned.
Courtney looked down, trying not to show the worry in her eyes. She hated his competitive nature, so much.

"Blood will spill the earth will quake, If you fight you will no longer wake. With body lean and tail high, You will be sent back into the sky. Strong you think you are, Weakness blows from afar."
Zephyr opened his closed eyes and stared at the two dogs, eyes narrowed. The border collie often spoke in riddles, he was a wise dog for his young years. His past had asserted that. These two meager dogs, one being pregnant, could not expect to fight the darker forces of Atlas and the other darks.

Dianu blinked, "what?" He would win if it was the last thing he did. He sighed, maybe he shouldn't fight Atlas. At least not yet... He flicked his ear again. "Not yet." he mumbled, then turned to Zephyr, "Since I'm no longer fighting the brute... would it be acceptable to stay with you?"

"What?" Zephyr cackled when Dianu spoke up, his tail rapidly hit the ground as he gazed at them. He tipped his head and stood up, the bangles around his back legs jingiling as he trotted around them smiling.
"The question is a good one, The anwser will come when you are done! Time will pass, you will stay. I will not force you away! Of course you may stay, No one could force you away!"

Courtney smiled abit at his riddles, "Thank you so much." She said softly.
Dianu nodded to the dog and pressed Courtney onward with his nose. He thought he saw a torn up sofa in one of the allys. He trotted forward knowing that Courtney would soon be in the lead. Finally he found teh terribly dirty tan sofa and collapsed, leaving room for his mate.

Zephyr watched them go, his ears twitching. Carefully, the border collie followed after them, tail wagging. "Mind if I ask, why exactly are you here, and where do you come from?" Zephyr had to force himself not to put it to poetry. He was very curious about these two, making such a journey with one so heavily pregnant... A huge risk. Yet these two seemed very close together, like good mates should. He found himself nodding in approval.

"Courtney needed a better place for pups, well better then the forest anyway. That's where we came from, here there is only one threat instead of many." Dianu explained. He sat up and scratched his ear, making teh hoop spin around. On it was ingraved W21923, the number that the human's gave him. He had only seen a few of the wolves that still had the gold band. Only their band was silver. I guess you could say that Dianu was awarded gold for working hard. Courtney didn't have a band because Dianu wouldn't let them touch her. With a low growl Dianu realized he had more history than he wanted. Terrible, terrible history.

Zephyr laughed and watched the spinning loop, then suddenly shied away. His ears went flat and his pelt rose a bit, he fought it down and looked back. "Sorry." He grumbled. "What dangers?" He asked, trying not to give away his sudden need for sleep. "What dangers do you speak of in the forest? It can't be worse than here, it's quite dangerous out here." He corrected, his ears flicking. He couldn't help but cast a look at his back paws, two gold bangles were around them and Zephyr sat down with a sigh.

"Well there was humans and Courtney didn't want to take the risk. But with all the forest animals and such, badgers and what not it's never truly safe. Not to mention Myph. He takes down any dog thats in there so he is the only canine in the forest.

Zephyr looked puzzled. "Myph?" He asked coolly. "Wait, that little dog? The shiba somthingoranother?" He asked, his ears suddenly perking and his eyes brightening a bit. He looked around, thats the first place Atlas would go. He looked back at them and sighed, he hoped the little dog killed Atlas.

"That's the one. I gave him one heck of a scar down his underbelly." he grinned.
Courtney nipped his coat. She hated his competitive nature. He was always looking for a fight. "Thank you, again." She said, "But I did't catch your name..."

"Zephyr." He said, yawning loudly. The border collie snapped his teeth together with a somwhat metalic clang, he smiled slowly. "Dawn is setting, the earth will sleep. You must go, no longer weep. I shall return, do not fear For I am always near." Zephyr recited, noting the setting sun and their tired looks. He stood up quickly, and in one smooth motion, loped away towards his city. His ears perked as he wandered the allyways, overturning anything old and finding things he could use.
